Jooske is a certified Dutch holistic drawing therapist, and uses art and creative expression as a tool to resource clients in integrating and processing trauma. Her aim is to meet the client where they are in their journey and support a healthy, conscious connection with the self. To explore this she draws from a wide range of practices such as trauma-informed approaches to somatic therapy, mindfulness, Hakoumi, art therapy, somatic listening, breath meditations, embodied consciousness practices, and through internal family system relationship building (supporting the ability to form healthy relationships with all parts of themselves).
With a background and training from Dutch tradition, Jooske's expertise is in working in a way that mirrors Te Whare Tapa Whā, weaving together different therapeutic practices to support the client as a whole person in relation to what is within and surrounding them. She works in a way that is connected with the natural world, which is explored as a metaphor in (re) creating awareness, hope and meaning, finding strength and ease, and trusting in the rhythm and beauty of life.
Somatic immersion, observation and the invitation to stay with the present experience are essential parts of her offerings. The sessions consist of embodied practices, body scans and guided meditations where the clients discover their own inner imagery and learn to listen to themselves. She invites gentle expression through movement, drawing, writing and expressing through the body. Where needed or applicable to support a clients journey she can provide holistic massage and energetic bodywork, working intuitively with a touch of mirimiri. Jooske can energetically tune-in to the client, their personal challenges, and the strengths and qualities of their traumas. This gives her mahi a unique dimension which can offer perspective, compassion, and empathy for the client to feel truly seen and heard.
She has 20+ years of training and experience practicing the techniques and practices she uses and offers. The structures of her sessions are organically shaped and tailored to attune to the individual client. An important part in her work is where her clients learn to go within, and learn to become more comfortable with challenging emotions, sensation and feelings. Where eventually they will be able to process the trauma and able to move and find alignment with their whole being to express authentically from a centered place within.
Jooske’s expertise in bringing the awareness back to physical experience and sensation makes her work especially valuable in supporting clinical talk therapy. Her approach is caring, humanistic and rooted in an understanding of the holistic integration and relation of physical, mental, spiritual and environmental health.
